We Are a Living Message

Have you ever wondered while walking along a beach what unusual things you may find? Perhaps even a message in a bottle from long ago. While that would be pretty awesome, have you ever stopped to consider that you are “a message in a bottle” to everyone you know? Well we each are a living message to everyone around us. The real question is, what are we saying in this message?

Working with Mindfulness in Mind

We all spend a great deal of our time each day at work. If your work is anything like mine, you have days at work when one or more co-workers or customers can be very challenging to deal with.  I recently had a chance to put some mindfulness skills to the test at work. Thankfully it was helpful for me in dealing with a difficult co-worker. I have found that using the principles of mindfulness, can help handle many situations at work and home with composure and skill.

My Parents Legacy of Love

My Mom and Dad recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 9th! They had a really nice time together celebrating the day with friends, and reminiscing about their special day 60 years ago, when they first said, “I do..” To me they are both a great source of inspiration, wisdom and love! Although I live some distance away, I call often to visit with them on the phone. I really enjoy spending time with them whether in person or over the phone. Practicing Mindfulness for a Happy Peaceful Life

I am sure you all enjoy being around people who just seem to radiate positive loving energy out to everyone around them. When they walk into the room, it’s like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. Just being around them makes you feel better and more productive. Whereas the grumpy, gloomy bossy people just drain you of your energy and make you miserable! We are all capable of being that radiant person, who lights up the room, or the grumpy Gus, always complaining and drawing everybody down. Balanced Living ~ Healthy Habits for a Happier You!

One of the things we all long for more than anything else is to simply be happy. If this is something we all seek, why is it so hard to attain? How might we reach this seemingly unattainable goal? Nothing is truly satisfying, as we are still unhappy. Why can we never find that perfect person, place or thing to make us happy?

In considering the answers to these questions, let us contemplate some very ancient wisdom, that may help us find the answers we are seeking today. Continue reading “Balanced Living ~ Healthy Habits for a Happier You!”

How to become more Understanding ~ and Increase Your Peace and Happiness!

9074I am reading the most wonderful book right now, “Living Buddha Living Christ” by one of my favorite authors, Thich Nhat Hanh. In this beautifully written book Thich Nhat Hanh eloquently compares and presents the teachings of both Buddha and Jesus Christ in very practical ways. He suggests using the concept of mindfulness to help us better understand each other. Buddhist concepts like mindfulness can be used within your own faith to help you grow in your understanding and tolerance of others who see things differently than yourself. A Faithful Compass to Guide Us through Life.

In today’s world with so many confusing changes taking place, life can feel very much like trying to navigate completely uncharted territory. To be able to do this with any degree of success, and avoid many problems along the way we need a moral compass or guideline to live by. So many people today feel uprooted or disconnected from the traditional values used to guide countless generations before them, leaving them with no compass to navigate these uncharted waters. The Inside Scoop – On Forgiveness Part 1

download (2)

There are many wonderful books that provide a wealth of information on the many benefits of forgiveness, two that I found especially helpful are Don Miguel Ruiz in “The Mastery of Love” and Gerald G. Jampolsky’s book “Forgiveness: The Greatest Healer of All.” I highly recommend both books. Until you have time to read them, I will endeavor to give you a helpful sample here in “The Inside Scoop on Forgiveness.” In part one we are going to consider why we need to forgive, and what  forgiveness really is. We will also consider what stops us from being able to forgive. In part two we will look at specific methods to help us to forgive. Continue reading “The Inside Scoop – On Forgiveness Part 1”
